If you miss your deadline and the extra waiting time passes, they receive a notice and verify their email to open your instructions.
This is a dead man’s switch: it responds to missed check-ins. It does not detect death or contact emergency services.
See an example timeline
Check in on 1 October at 9am. With a 30-day schedule, the next deadline is 31 October at 9am. If missed, seven extra days allow access to be sent from 7 November at 9am. Checking in before sending resets the clock. Processing and email arrival may take longer.

A few things to know.
What if I forget to check in?
A missed deadline starts the extra waiting time you chose. We send reminders. Checking in before access is sent resets the clock. Choose timing that accounts for travel and losing access to email. Opening an email alone does not count.
Will my person be contacted now?
Saving and previewing a draft sends nothing. When you continue after trial confirmation, you choose whether to send an invitation or wait until delivery. You see that choice before any email is sent.
How are my instructions protected?
Simple access lets ZeroLatch encrypt and manage stored instructions. Files are encrypted in your browser before upload. Your person verifies their email to open them and does not need a separate password. Private access is available for people who want to manage a separate secret.
Does this replace a will or a backup?
No. Keep original documents and independent backups. These instructions help someone know where to begin; they do not give legal authority or replace an account provider’s recovery process.
